Where is the procedure performed?

The liposelection procedure is performed at the Cambie Surgery Centre (2836 Ash street Vancouver). Dr.Rosengarten along with a team of nurses will ensure that your surgery will be as safe and as comfortable for you as possible

Does the procedure hurt?

No. You may feel a little stinging when the local anesthetic is injected but after that most patients do not feel any pain. The procedure is often described as feeling like a deep massage. Most patients are able to listen to music, have a conversation or even talk or text on their phones!

How long does the average procedure take?

Depending on the area to be treated the average treatment takes about 3 hours form start to finish.

How many treatments are required?

Typically, only one procedure is required.

What do I do if I get nervous during the procedure?

There is nurse who is there to hold your hand and to make sure you are warm and comfortable throughout the procedure. If you are very anxious you can ask for a mild sedative to help you relax. If you feel pain during the procedure you will be given extra medication for pain control.

Are the results permanent?

Once a fat cell is removed from a particular area of the body, it will never return. However not all the fat from the treated area is removed and so if you gain fat in the future, it can return to the area already treated. it can also be deposited in other areas of the body. It is therefore very important that after the procedure you continue with your exercise routine and follow a healthy diet. To be a good candidate for liposelection , you should have realistic expectations. It cannot remove large volumes of fat.

Does SmartLipo and VASER treat cellulite?

By tightening the skin over the affected area cellulite marks may be less visible. Another procedure offered by Dr. Rosengarten ,the Velashape II, is more effective at targeting cellulit.

Will I need to stay in bed for a few days after the procedure?

No. You can be up and about right after the procedure. There is virtually no down time. Some patients can return to work the next day. Afterwards many patients fell well enough to go out for a meal or even to do some shopping. For a day or two after the procedure you may stiff and sore just as if you had a hard workout at the gym. Some of the anesthetic fluid will leak out for the next day or so . This may be a little messy.

How much weight will I lose after the procedure?

The procedure is for shaping the body and not for weight loss. Immediately after the procedure you may notice that you have gained a pound or two. This is as result of some of the local anesthetic infiltrated into the fatty tissue. Once the body absorbs this fluid you will probably notice that you have dropped a small amount of weight. However the reduction in inches is more noticeable.

What is the long-term outcome for most people?

For the first one to two months the area treated may be a little swollen and so the results may not seem that impressive. However as the swelling goes down which may take up to 2 months, you will start to see the area treated trim down. It can take up to six months after the procedure before you see the permanent result.

What if I've already had regular liposuction?

Liposelection may be extremely effective for improving upon body areas that have been previously treated with traditional liposuction. With this procedure your doctor can further sculpt or contour those areas on the body that have “droopy” skin, especially if you are a relatively thin, healthy person who wants additional toning and tightening.

Is there anything special I need to do after the procedure?

After liposelection you will need to wear a very tight fitting garment in order to get you to the shape you desire. It is very important that you wear this garment as instructed.
